Dal Cero was founded in 1934 when Augusto Dal Cero purchased his first few acres. Today, that estate boasts 25 acres under vine and is known for its location on a sort of “terrace” overlooking the city of Verona. The winery is now in its third generation, run by Augusto’s grandchildren: Francesca, Davide, and Nico. They oversee the fully sustainable vineyards, which feature native grapes such as Corvina, Verdicchio, Rondinella, and Molinara.
The family currently cultivates 272 acres across the three estates. Each estate - Corte Giacobbe in Soave, Dal Cero in Valpolicella, and Tenuta Montecchiesi in Cortona, Tuscany, has its own line and personality.
Francesa Dal Cero will guide us through wines from all three estates, including a show-stopping Amarone della Valpolicella. Amarone is a prestigious, full-bodied Italian red wine from the Veneto region made via the appassimento method, where grapes are dried on racks for months, concentrating sugars to produce a uniquely velvety and rich dry red.
